Family escapes Missoula House Fire
Updated On: Nov 08, 2017
Lost Mine Loop

From KPAX:

No injuries have been reported after a late Monday night fire hit a home in Missoula.

The Missoula Rural Fire District responded to a home on Lost Mine Loop just after 10:30 p.m. after a resident reported to 911 that they had smoke in the attic. MRFD Assistant Fire Chief Brent Christopherson says that a wood stove may have been the source of the problem.

Firefighters arrived to find smoke and fire in the attic. Christopherson says the flames were extinguished and extensive overhaul was required because of insulation in the attic and ceiling areas.

Crews spent the night at the scene while the residents, who had safely evacuated, spent the night with relatives in the area. It is also believed that they do have insurance, according to Christopherson.

The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
